SEASON 2019/20
Mixed Bonspiel
The Barr’s were out in force for the mixed bonspiel with a 4-0 win . Results C Barr 8-5 D Thomson, Scott Barr 8-7 A Noble, G Barr 11-5 S Rennie and the winners J Barr 11-4 J Stevenson.

Winning team Fiona Cunningham, Jim Barr (skip), Jane Barr (Boss) and Douglas Scott.

Festive Bonspiel
After 2 very close games it came down to ends with the winners by 1 end being Dave Thomsons rink of A Barr, A Noble and D Ritchie (pic1) and runners up Stuart Rennies rink of Jim Stevenson, C Low and A Kininmonth (pic2). Best Xmas jumper prize went to Dave Mercer (Sorry no photo!). Many thanks to Brian Mayne and family for their sponsorship!

Lochend Farm Shop
Well done to Martins team once again handing the trophy to himself his team consisted of Craig Barr, Alistair Noble and David Souter (pic1). Second prize went to Hamish Geyer, Alan Mitchell, Eddie McFarlane and Ken Kilgour (pic2). Third prize was Jim Stevenson, Derek Laird, Willy Scott and Doug Ritchie (pic3). The neeps were Stewart Barr, Scott Barr, Robin Park and Alan Kinninmonth (neeps). Shot of the night judged from the viewing area was Derek Laird. Well done to all the prize winners and thank you to the Silvera family for their kind sponsorship!

Mixed Bonspiel
Winning rink on 21 February was Laura Ritchie (skip), Stuart Rennie, Susan Cooper and Brian Faichney. A fun night was had by all with nice sandwiches and a raffle.

(Pic 3) Booby prize winners were David Thomson (skip), Alan Barr, Albert Rae and Doug Ritchie (Pic 4). The secretary understand the best dressed member was Willie Scott!! Lochend Farm Shop
The Lochend Farm Shop Bonspiel was a huge success on 3 December with vouchers for the shop going to the winning team of Martin Silvera (skip), Rab Stevenson, Scott Barr and Brian Mayne (Pic 1) coming out victorious with a 12-3 win over team turnips skipped by Robbie Stevenson (pic 4), runners up winning a great box of veg Grant Barr (skip), Alistair Noble, Russel Wood and Hansen Low (Pic 2) and third place winning a bag of tatties Dougie Templeton (skip), Steven Young, Ian Simpson and Eddie McFarlane (Pic 3). Many thanks to the Silvera Family for their kind sponsorship of the Bonspiel.

Barry Stirling Trophy
This trophy was competed for on 23 October amongst 4 rinks. The scores were J Stevenson 9 Derek Laird 5 and H Geyer 3 R Stevenson 9. Congratulations to Robbie’s rink of his dad Robert, K Young and D Mercer.

Allan Hempseed Memorial Quaich
This is a new competition in memory of Club legend Allan Hempseed and was played 19 September. The Quaich was presented to the Club at the Club Supper on behalf of the family by Allan’s son-in-law Jim Riggans.
Well done to Jim Barr (skip), Stewart Barr, Steven Young and Hansen Low on winning this competition contested by 6 rinks.

SEASON 2017/18

Mixed Bonspiel
This match was played on 22 February at Kinross with 8 rinks again competing. This, as usual, was a very sociable event with sandwiches, tea/coffee being provided post-match. Additionally, the ladies were congratulated for the array of prizes provided for the raffle – there weren’t many participants who went home with nothing.
Anyway, to the result, second placed skip was Stewart Barr with first place skip being Stuart Rennie with his rink of Alysia Rennie, Russell Wood and Aileen Priestley. The trophy and glasses were duly presented to the winners by President Jim Barr.
Well done to the winners.

This bonspiel was played on 4 December and contested amongst 8 rinks. The scores were as follows: S Barr 5 Jim Stevenson 10, H Geyer 7 David Laird 9, M Silvera 8 Derek Laird 7 and J Barr 6 R Stevenson 5. Congratulations to the winning rink of J Stevenson(S), A Barr, A Mitchell and B Mayne. Martin Silvera presented the trophy and vouchers to the winning rink. 2nd placed rink were presented with a box of vegetables and 3rd placed rink members received a bag of tatties. Grateful thanks were expressed by President Jim for the generosity of Lochend Farm Shop and Martin graciously donated his bag of tatties to the President.

Our opening club bonspiel was played at Kinross on 20 September with a clear winner emerging. The scores were D Laird 8 J Barr 5, K Young 8 A Barr 4 and J Stevenson 10 R B Stevenson 4. Congratulations to Jim’s rink of A Bowie, S Young and J Lindsay.

SEASON 2016/17
Festive Bonspiel
Festive Bonspiel
This year on 18 December only 4 rinks participated. Notwithstanding this a festive spirit was shown to a man with everyone dressing up accordingly. The games were closely contested with the results being R Park 6 R B Stevenson 6 and A Barr 10 A Noble 7. Congratulations to A Barr’s winning rink

of Alan, Ken Young, Ian Simpson and Alan Kininmonth. Past President Brian Mayne and his wife spectated from the bar with Brian, the competition sponsor, presenting all participants with some festive items ranging from a festive bottle for the winners to a chocolate adornment for the Christmas tree for the losers. The Club’s continuing grateful thanks was conveyed to Brian.

Lochend Farm Shop Trophy
3 very close games between Robbie & Dougie, (Robbie winning 8 – 6) Martin & Grant (Grant winning 8 – 7) and Stewart & Rab (Stewart winning 8 – 7) but only one bonspiel game between David Thomson & Jim Barr! (David winning 13 shots to 2) Jim’s team was essentially Stewart Barr’s Thistle rink but they obviously only play for one twin! Young Scott wanted to shake hands after the third end but was told by his ‘faither’ he would just have to suffer 8 ends like the rest of the team. Martin & his father Mike presented the trophy (and £20 Lochend Farm Shop Gift Voucher) to the winning rink of David Thomson, Fraser Thomson, Stuart Rennie & Robin Ferguson. Runners up (Robbie’s Rink) received a very large box of fresh mixed veg. each and third place (Stewart Barr’s Rink) went home with a bag of tatties. Many thanks were conveyed to Mike and Martin for their generosity.

Barry Stirling Trophy
Only 4 rinks contested this bonspiel on 14 October. They were very tight with only 1 shot between the 2 winning rinks. The overall winner was down to ends won. The results were A Barr 5 G Barr 6, F Thomson 4 J Stevenson 5. Jim Stevenson was declared the winner having won 5 ends. Congratulations to Jim’s team of G Rae, A Hempseed and B Faichney.

Sinclair Shield
Our opening club bonspiel was played at Kinross on 21 September with a clear winner emerging. The result was all very close until last end when Jim Barr crumbled against Jim Stevenson (Subbing for Robbie). The scores were G Barr 6 A Noble 6, R Stevenson 8 S Rennie 7 and J Stevenson 7 J Barr 4. Congratulations to Jim’s rink of Derek Laird, D Ritchie and Ian McDonald.

Mixed Bonspiel
This match was played on 25 February at Kinross with 8 rinks competing. This, as usual, was a very sociable event with sandwiches, shortbread tea/coffee being provided post-match. Additionally, the ladies were congratulated for the array of prizes provided for the raffle – there weren’t many participants who went home with nothing.
Anyway, to the result second placed skip was Steven Young with first place skip being C Low with his rink of Alice Thomson, K Kilgour and Violet Christie. The trophy and glasses were duly presented to the winners by President Alastair.
Well done to the winners.

Festive Bonspiel
This competition took place on the afternoon of 19 December amongst 4 rinks with some members dressed in tasteful festive apparel (Simpson as gaviscon man and Ken Kilgour as an elf) or not! Anyway the games were fairly closely contested with the highest up rink of J Stevenson, Albert Rae, Ken Young and Alan Kininmonth beating Jim Barr’s rink by 10 shots to 5. They ended 5 shots up whereas Alan Barr’s rink was very close being 4 shots up. Alan gave Jim a severe talking to when they got home because with last stone and an open house he could not draw the shot which would have given Alan victory!!! Congratulations to Jim’s rink and commiserations to the others.

Lochend Farm Shop Trophy
6 rinks competed in this bonspiel on 19 November. As you will know this Trophy has now been tastefully renamed from the Pitfirrane Trophy and this new sponsor generated 2 rinks more than last season. After 5 ends Robert Stevenson’s rink looked well on course to win BUT this was not to be!! The results are as follows, Martin Silvera’s rink peeled 5 shots all with Doug Templeton’s rink, Robert’s rink beat Stewart Barr’s rink by 9 shots to 4 but the winning rink skipped by Jim Barr, 3rd Ken Young, second Alan Barr and lead Brian Faichney beat Stuart Rennie’s rink by 10 shots to 3 a fine margin of 7 shots up! Congratulations to the winning rink. Both Martin Silvera and Mike, his father, made the presentation of large trays of vegetables to the runners up of Robert Stevenson, Willie Scott, Allan Hempseed and John Craig and ‘Shop Vouchers’ to the winning rink.
The Club’s appreciation for this new sponsorship was expressed on the night.

Barry Stirling Trophy
This was played at Kinross on 16 October amongst only 4 rinks – again! This year the format reverted to a bonspiel notwithstanding the revised rules. The game between Jim Stevenson and Willie Scott was closely contested with Jim’s rink winning by 1 shot. However, the second game was a little different with Grant Barr beating Robert Stevenson by 13 shots to 2. Congratulations to Grant’s rink of K Young, A Rae and D Ritchie.

Sinclair Shield
Our opening club bonspiel was played at Kinross on 23 September with a clear winner emerging. The results of the games were S Rennie 3 R B Stevenson 8, J Barr 6 C Low 8 and finally, R Stevenson 15 J Stevenson 3. Congratulations to Robbie’s rink of Alex Bowie, Alan Barr and Andy Stevenson.

Mixed Bonspiel
This match was moved to Kinross from Perth and was played on 26 February with 8 rinks competing. This, as usual, was a very sociable event with sandwiches, shortbread tea/coffee being provided post match. Additionally, the ladies were congratulated for the array of prizes provided for the raffle – there weren’t many participants who went home with nothing.
Anyway, to the result third placed skip was Karen Scott, second placed skip was Pat McFarlane with first place skip being Alice Thomson with her rink of Doug Ritche, Grant Barr and a ‘no show’.
Well done to the winners.

Festive Bonspiel
The original Closing Bonspiel trophy has now been beautifully re-branded as The Festive Bonspiel Trophy. This competition took place on the afternoon of 20 December amongst 4 rinks with some members dressed in tasteful festive apparel or not! Anyway the games were fairly closely contested with the highest up rink of C Low, R Park, A Rae and J Craig defeating Ken Young’s rink by 8 shots to 3. They ended 5 shots up whereas Ian Simpson’s rink only managed to be 2 shots up. Congratulations to Colin’s rink and commiserations to the others.

Pitfirrane Trophy 20 November
4 rinks competed in this bonspiel on 20 November. Whilst each of the games could not be called ‘tight’ the winning rinks both won 10 shots to 2. The winning rink was decided on number of ends won and therefore Jim Barr’s rink of G Rae, D Ritchie and E McFarlane by 5 ends to 4 over Colin Low’s rink. Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the others.

Barry Stirling Trophy
This was played at Kinross on 28 October amongst only 4 rinks – again! This year the format reverted to 4 end mini matches. After both winners competing the final, each team had 3 points. The winners of the trophy were David Thomson (Skip) Willie Scott, D Ritchie and E McFarlane who had the highest shots up overall +6 shots. Commiserations to the other 3 rinks.

Sinclair Shield Kinross 24 September 2014
Our opening club bonspiel was played at Kinross on 24 September with no particularly significant results. The results of the games were K Young 6 R Stevenson Snr 4, R Stevenson Jnr 7 J Stevenson Snr 7 and David Thomson 8 Colin Low 5. In closely contested games and with + 3 shots David Thomson won the competition with his rink of Alan Barr, Ken Kilgour and Grant Stewart.

SEASON 2013/14
Mixed Bonspiel
Always a cheery night at Perth this year with only eight (ten) rinks mixed between Dunfermline Ladies and ourselves. Winners by 6 shots up were Robin Park, Jane Barr, John Geyer and Kathy Norris who were drawn against Ken Young, Irene Baillie and Malcolm Walker – with one ‘no show’. The other results were A Hempseed 9 C Low 8, J Barr 5 A Barr 5 and finally A Bowie 7 S Rennie 11. Dunfermline supplied commemorative glasses for the winners and prizes were, as usual, donated by the ladies for the raffle.

Festive Bonspiel
As a result of little enthusiasm being shown for this competition (previously Closing Bonspiel) continuing to be played in March it was rescheduled and played on 21 January. This was a success with 4 rinks participating as opposed to only 2 the previous year. The contest was extremely tight with both games tying on shots and ends with the eventual winning rink having a 5 shot end. The worthy winning rink, playing against Robin Park (9 shots each) was Ken Young, Alex Bowie, Alastair Noble and Andrew Chesney. The other game, Willie Scott against Allan Hempseed, was peeled at 6 shots each.

Pitfirrane Trophy
This competition took place on 20 November. The overall scores were pretty even. Scores were J Barr 8 Robbie Stevenson 7, A Hempseed 8 Richie Knox 7 and finally S Barr 5 K Young 3. Well done to the highest up rink of S Barr, S Young, A Noble and K Kilgour

Barry Stirling Trophy
This was played at Kinross on 21 October amongst only 4 rinks. This year the format reverted to 3 mini matches – the trophy was won by Jim Stevenson’s rink of D Mayne, A Stevenson and J Craig being highest up overall.

Sinclair Shield Kinross 25 September 2013
8 rinks competed after which the Club supplied sandwiches adding to the conviviality of the evening. Results of the games were K Young 7 J Barr 6, R Knox 4 J Stevenson Jnr. 9, C Low 13 R Stevenson 5 and R Stevenson Jnr. 11 S Barr 1. With +10 shots R Stevenson Jnr. won the competition with his rink of R Park, G Rae and D Scott.

SEASON 2012/13

PITFIRRANE TROPHY 21 November
Again played at Kinross with 6 rinks contesting. The results are as follows : Jim Barr 13 Alex Bowie 2, David Thomson 5 Jamie Stevenson 4 and Martin Silvera 6 Robbie Stevenson 6. Congratulations to Jim’s rink – third Jimmy Lindsay, Doug Ritchie and Russel Wood.

BARRY STIRLING TROPHY 18 October
This was played at Kinross on 18 October amongst 6 rinks – much better then last year (only 3 rinks) The trophy went to Robert Stevenson defeating Alex Bowie by 7 shots to 4. The other results were Jamie Stevenson 7 his dad, Jim 6 and Robbie Stevenson 5 Martin Silvera 5. Congratulations to Robert’s rink of Robin Park and Ken Kilgour!

SINCLAIR SHIELD

Our opening club internal bonspiel was played at Kinross on 19 September with no particularily significant results although played with a couple of depleted rinks!! Winning rink was Skip Robbie Stevenson, Third Alan Barr, Second Doug Ritchie and Lead Ian Borland 11 shots to 4 against Richie Knox. Second place, well behind, was Steven Young 8 shots to 3 over Stuart Rennie, Jim Barr 5 shots to 3 over Jamie Stevenson and finally Alex Bowie 6 shots to 5 over Willie Scott.

Mixed Bonspiel
Always a cheery night at Perth with ten rinks mixed between Dunfermline Ladies and ourselves. Winners were Jane Barr, Willie Scott, Rene Anderson and Alastair Noble – no further information has been passed to secretary!! Dunfermline supplied commemorative glasses for the winners and prizes were, as usual, donated by the ladies for the raffle.
