SEASON 2018/19
KCT League
The winners were Kinross Juniors with Dunfermline finishing around mid-table.
John Stewart Double Rink K.O.
The first game was to take place on 5 December against Bank of Scotland who withdrew from the competition. The Club progressed into the final where we met Kinross Juniors but unfortunately after a very tight game the Juniors won on ends.
Kinross Closing Bonspiel
The Club was represented by a rink skipped by Robert Stevenson who advised the rink could have won the competition if he had not played a rubbish last stone!! The Club was thought to have ended up third.
Mixed League
Winners were C Barr, Mary Lamont, S Barr and Lorna Rennie. This rink was undefeated in all 5 games. Well done!
Yara
Congratulations to Martin Silvera and team runners up in the Yara Farmers Curling Competition at Perth last week-end January. (team consisted sister Michelle, Father Mike and Jim Wilson (Jane Barr’s Father))

Kinross Curling Club Championship

Kinross 350th Anniversary week-end 28th – 30 September
Claiming to be the oldest curling club in Scotland, Kinross invited as many as possible of the oldest curling clubs in their respective countries to join in the celebrations. The invitation was accepted by St Moritz (Switzerland – 1898), Royal Montreal, (Canada -1807), Milwaukee, (USA – 1845), Rungsted, ( Denmark – 1971), Dusseldorf, (Germany – 1961) and Preston, (England – 1871), and together with several more local clubs the bonspiel against Kinross Club took place at Kinross ice rink. Twenty rinks, including six Kinross rinks, played in four sections. Round Robin games of six ends each led to winners and runners-up moving to high and low road sections. After further elimination, Semi-final and Final games were played over eight ends. The Dunfermline club was represented by Alan Barr and Albert Rae together with Jim and Rab Stevenson, who shared skipping responsibilities. While Dunfermline handled their opponents from Dusseldorf and from Dollar & Devonvale relatively easily, they found their Kinross opponents stiffer competition, losing to two of their rinks, and drawing with a third.
The curling programme proved strenuous, and saw Doug Ritchie being drafted in as a replacement for Rab for the last two games, together with Jim Barr as skip for the game against Dollar & Devonvale. The final was contested by two Kinross rinks, skipped respectively by Sandy Nelson and Iain Cormack with Iain being the final winner. Despite the lack of success on the ice, the bonspiel weekend was wholly enjoyable, with opportunity to mix with the overseas (and English) visitors during a Saturday night ceilidh at the nearby Windlestray Hotel. The Friday night was a social occasion within the newly refurbished ice rink lounge.

SEASON 2017/18
Kinross Closing Bonspiel
Robert Stevenson skipped a rink in this competition on 7 April and was assisted by A Barr, R Park, and I Simpson. In an earlier session Kelty CC were 7 ends and 20 shots. We played against Glenfarg CC winning quite comfortably but nowhere near winning. We retired to the bar early when Glenfarg won an end!!
YARA
Congratulations to Alan Barr and Drew Thomson being in a rink which were runners up!
Jim Stevenson skipped a rink in the Masters, through at Greenacres.
Kinross Mixed League was won by David Thomson, Alice Thomson, David Laird and Gillian Laird – well done!
Exxon Mobil Chemical Points Night
A less disappointing turnout than last year (6) but still with only 11 competing!! Fraser Thomson won with 39 points, runner up was Grant Barr 37 points and third was Derek Laird on 35 points. 8 disciplines were completed but notwithstanding the increase in numbers still a very disappointing turnout! Congratulations Fraser.

Kinross Curling Club Championship
The Club entered two rinks this season into the above competition in October. The Club won the competition and as an added bonus the second rink won the Low Road. Winning rink is as shown in the picture with their spoils. The Low Road rink was Robbie Stevenson, Skip, Doug Templeton, Jamie Stevenson and John Geyer/Eddie McFarlane. Well done lads second year on the bounce!!

SEASON 2016/17
Exxon Mobil Chemical Points Night
A more disappointing turnout than last year (10) with only 6 competing!! Jim Barr won with 49 points and runner up was Fraser Thomson with 45 points. All 10 disciplines were completed but it was reported as a good night?
Kinross Curling Club Championship
The Club entered a rink into the above competition last weekend, 21 – 23 October, which they won and were duly crowned champions. They beat Boreland in a tight game, beat Inverkeithing1, lost by 1 shot against Fossoway but nevertheless progressed to semi-final stages. At this stage, they beat Kinross to progress to the final where they won again against another Inverkeithing rink but after a slow start. Robbie Stevenson, Dougie Templeton and John Geyer, reached the semi of the High Road, Stuart Barr and Jim Barr, reached the semi of the Low Road. Fraser Thomson and David Laird reached the quarter final of the Low Road and Alastair Noble and Derek Laird reached the quarter final of the Low Road. Well done!
Four of the Dunfermline Curlers won the National Young Farmers Competition at Perth – Skip was Fraser Thomson, third was Grant Barr, second was David Laird and Lead was Tommy Fairbairn.
Alan Barr should be congratulated in being in a rink winning the Grand Masters – The other members were S Nelson, J Johnston and J Taylor. Superb achievement.

Rothes Bonspiel
An invite was received this season to put a team into this bonspiel.
A team consisting of Grant Barr (Skip), Alastair Noble (Third), Stuart Rennie (second) and Steven Young (Lead) represented Dunfermline. After taking a 5 in the first end we stretched away further during the middle of the game and secured a comfortable 15-8 win over a Rothes rink skipped by their own president John Paul.
This resulted in Dunfermline being the highest up visiting rink, winning a bottle of wine each. A good night!
Bishopshire 150th Anniversary Bonspiel
A team consisting of Robbie Stevenson (Skip), Jim Barr (Third), Stuart Rennie (Second) and Eddie McFarlane (Lead) represented Dunfermline CC at this Bonspiel. Due to a shortage of Bishopshire Teams, Dunfermline played against an Orwell rink. A very competitive game with Orwell coming out on top. Can’t remember who won overall but it was free ice, free stovies and a good raffle – although no one from Dunfermline CC won there either!
Finally, J Stevenson, R B Stevenson and President A Noble attended another Markinch 175th Anniversary Dinner in Drummonds Hotel on 24 March. ‘A good night was had by all’.
SEASON 2015/16
Mixed League
This season was a close run thing until the last game on 14 March. It was very tight with Stuart Rennie’s rink of Lorna Rennie, Eddie McFarlane and Kathleen Norris being victorious. Congratulations to the victors.
Exxon Mobil Chemical Points Night
Yet another extremely disappointing turnout on 9 February – only 10 members. This year each player played 4 stones for each discipline albeit we didn’t quite finish them all. In 3rd place with 39 points was D Templeton, 2nd place was R Stevenson and joint winners on 42 points were S Barr and C Low. Thanks to those who turned out. Well done Stewart and Colin.
Kinross Curling Club Championship
This inaugural competition was, unfortunately, played on Saturday/Sunday 30/31 January immediately after the YARA at Perth. This did mean a few curlers made themselves unavailable for selection. We did enter a pool of 7 players, Alastair Noble, Rab Stevenson, Stuart Rennie, Ken Young, Derek Laird, Albert Rae & Steven Young. We played Fossoway, Inverkeithing and Orwell Ladies. We came second in all three games but had a most enjoyable time, despite these results.
The competition was won by Fossoway in which our past President was in the rink – much heavy fining at forthcoming dinner!
Tulliallan Bonspiel –Jim Barr, Stuart Rennie, John Craig and Eddie McFarlane represented the Club on 28 October and won 10 shots to 7. Inverkeithing won the bonspiel.

This game opened our season at Kinross on 22 September with a
‘Granny’ being experienced by the VP rink skipped by Colin Low. (RP sunning himself in Spain) (Alastair 13 shots Colin 0!!!) – not a good start to the season as far as camaraderie and etiquette is concerned!! Alastair’s rink members will be well fined at the Club Court in November. It is understood Alastair was handing out drink to his rink before the event!
SEASON 2014/15
Mixed League
This season was a battle of the Youngs! Ken and Steven ended tied on 8 points but Ken won by virtue of winning 1 more end throughout the season. Congratulations to Ken’s rink of Leslie Barr, K Kilgour (G Stewart/A Noble) and Kathleen Norris

As with last season again there was a disappointing number of members (9) attending on 10 February. The up side was that 10 disciplines were undertaken. In 3rd position was D Mayne (31pts), in 2nd was J Barr (37pts) and the deserved winner with 39 points was Drew Thomson one of our junior members. Well done Drew.

The Club was represented by Robbie Stevenson, Dougie Templeton, Derek Mayne and Jimmy Low and won 10 shots to 7.

The game opened our season at Kinross on 23 September and after a tight game Colin’s rink ran out winners by 6 shots to 4. Notwithstanding Alastair’s loss he still provided his rink with small bottles of wine – what a good President in waiting!!
SEASON 2013/14
Mixed League
Still a popular competition with 8 rinks competing. Dave Thomson’s rink of third Alice Thomson, second Andrew Chesney and lead Kathy Norris ended up league champions but only on shots (12 points+17 shots). Commiserations to Steven Young’s rink (12 points + 9 shots) very creditable runners up! Steven was assisted by Yvonne Wardrope, Robin Park and Liz Mills.
Exxon Mobil Chemical Points Night 11 February
Again a disappointing number of members turned out on 11 February (10) to partake in the annual Points competition. Managed to play twelve disciplines over the two sheets. The winner on the night was President Colin Low (32 points) second was Willie Scott (29 points) and third was Ken Young (28 points).

Traditional commencing club game of the season took place 24 September 2013 at Kinross. Unfortunately the Vice could not play which obviously strethened his rink as his rink won by 6 shots!!
Kinross Curling Innaugural Bonspiel 22 September 2013
Our club was invited to play in this competition which was a highest shots up Bonspiel with 3 3 end games throughout the day. C Low, the President, with help from Alan Barr, Fraser Thomson, Stuart Rennie, Doug Ritchie and Robin Park came a very creditable 3rd place!
SEASON 2012/13
Exxon Mobil Chemical Points Night
A disappointing number of members turned out on Tuesday 12 February to partake in the annual Points competition. The nine members who decided that Celtic would lose, so not to bother staying at home, played eight disciplines over the two sheets. Club Seconds and Thirds tried to out score the five Skips over the evening, with last years winner, Jim Barr, retaining the prize on 38 points. G Barr, followed behind father with a score of 34, followed by the Surveyors, K Young & C Low on 33. We will reserve the Skips anonymity that finished last.
Green Hotel League
Having won Division 1 for past 2 years unfortunately we finished runners up (9 points) to Kinross (12 points). The three rinks involved were skipped by Robbie, Jamie and Jim Stevenson.
John Stewart Double Rink K.O.
Lost the final to Kinross with both games tied at 7 shots each – Kinross won by 1 end and rumours abound that losing on ends was the result of Jim Stevenson deliberately blanking the first end in his game!! The second rink was skipped by Alex Bowie.
Mixed League
Whilst a non Club fixture still popular with eight rinks competing. Alan Barr’s rink of third Diane Bell, second Malcolm Walker and lead Liz Mills ended up league champions. A very competitive competition and surprising that Alan won as it has been said he wasn’t there half the time!!!

Kinross Closing Bonspiel
Club was represented in the 17.30 session and drawn against Fossoway. In a game which appeared to be running away from us we got 4 shots in the last end to win 8 shots to 7! The rink was Allan Hempseed, Willie Scott, Steven Young and Robin Park.
