Friendship Trophy
The annual staging of the Friendship Trophy between Largs and Land O’Burns curling clubs took place at Ayr ice rink on Thursday 10th November.
Each club ices two teams and the aggregate score determines the winner. Largs were the current holders of the trophy, but this time Land O’ Burns came out victorious.
The two Largs teams for this event were:
Jim Johnstone (skip), Janie McKenzie, Linn Munton, Chris Reekie.
Linda Maxwell-Cox (skip), Gus Wallace, Ron Copeland, Rita Salton.
The matches finished one apiece, with John Johnstone’s side winning five ends in a 8-5 victory. Linda’s team lost 9-4, a three shot loss in the seventh end putting the game out of reach.
Largs President Jim Johnstone presented the trophy to Land O’ Burns.
Since the trophy was first contested in 1998, Largs have won it on 14 occasions and Stair / Land O’Burns have triumphed 10 times.
