Competition Rules
Season 2011 / 2012
Dunn Trophy, Aitken Trophy and Murray Trophy Competitions
- Each competition will be a bonspiel at Stirling Ice Rink normally involving 2 rinks from each participating club. Clubs wishing to enter only one rink may do so and if possible they will be paired with another club for that competition. If it is not possible to pair a club it will not be included in the competition.
- If required due to too many clubs entering a competition clubs will be excluded from the draw in rotation.
- Not withstanding the RCCC rules of play, any player may play once only for up to 2 clubs in any competition providing that he/she is a member of both clubs.
- All competition games will be played over 8 ends or the bell, whichever comes first.
- A game should not commence until there are 8 players on the ice. A rink without a full complement of players will be penalised for the delay in completing their rink, as per R.C.C.C. Rules 5(b) (ii) and 5(a) (ii), up to a maximum of 30 minutes. After 30 minutes delay the game will be awarded to the opponents who will be credited with 5 ends and 5 shots. If the game is nullified in this manner, the skips may decide to play a social game provided agreement is reached as to the payment of the ice charges.
- In the event of a rink failing to appear, the opponents will be credited with a score of 5 ends and 5 shots, and the offending club will be held responsible for all the ice charges for that rink
- The winner of the competition will be the club with the highest aggregate of ends won. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by taking into account shots up, then shots scored, then finally ends played.
Province Medal Competition
- Weather permitting; this will be an outdoor bonspiel at Larbert pond involving 1 rink from each club taking part.
- In the event of the outdoor bonspiel not taking place, the medal will be awarded to the club with the highest aggregate of ends over the three indoor bonspiels. Any tie will be resolved as per the bonspiels.
Province Knockout Competition
- This will be a knockout competition involving 1 rink from each club taking part.
- The competition will be played to R.C.C.C. rules.
- All members are eligible to play in the competition, but no player can play for more than 1 club.
- In the event of the points being equal at the end of the game, the winners shall be determined by firstly ends won, and if still drawn, by the two skips playing one stone to nearest the head.
NOTE: The free guard Zone will be played in all Province Competitions.
Clubs are reminded of the following extract from the R.C.C.C. Rules Section 14 The National Province Championship Sub-section (b)
“Teams shall be composed only of Members of the same Local Club and may be men or women or mixed. A Club may play in only one qualifying Province Competition in any season which shall be the Local Province of which the Club is a member. Individual Curlers may be active members of more than one Province, but must declare which Province they are representing during the current season.”
Failure to adhere to the above will result in immediate disqualification.
