Lauderdale had 10 curlers, past and present, at the dinner; Anne, Roger, Colin and Janene, who curled in the Bonspiel, were joined by Kenny and Irene Allinson, Pat Stirling, Shiela Hogg and Bill and Heather Walker. (I take no responsibility for the quality of the photography!)

All present at the dinner were also given a great momento, a booklet titled “50 Years Ago We Built an Ice Rink” with the whole story of the Border Ice Rink from its inception right up to the present day. This will be available soon to download and view.

A great night was had by all, with everything from a piper to pipe in the top table, to a presentation to 11 founder members who are still members, to a great 3-course dinner, to a series of speeches including a toast “To the Border Ice Rink” from David Henderson, the President of the RCCC, to a very humorous speech by after dinner speaker George McNeill, to a Vote of Thanks from Jim Cullen. It was a night which will live long in the memory of everyone who was there, from the ‘Magnificent 11’ to the well represented Borders Young Curlers.

Huge thanks are due to all the organisers and sponsors of such a memorable day.
