ROYAL CALEDONIAN CURLING CLUB – FORTH VALLEY AREA
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Held at Forthbank on Thursday 26th April 2018
Present –27 members attended representing FIRCC, Falkirk Ladies, Dollar Ladies, Grangemouth, Blairdrummond, Laurieston and Zetland, Scottish Central, Stirling Young Curlers, Torbrex, Kilsyth Ladies, Kilsyth, Borestone and Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Stirling Curling Group, Livingston, Buchan, Bathgate, Old Fellows, Drymen, Denny, Bonnybridge, Oatridge, Uphall, Abercorn, Sauchie and Bannockburn, Linlithgow.

Chairman –Joe Barry, Senior Area 6 representative chaired the meeting.
Minutes of AGM 2017 – The minutes were approved by Ian Keron of Oatridge seconded by Patrick Carnie of Uphall and are filed on the Area website. There were no matters arising.
Chairman’s Report –
As Area Reps, Joe Barry and myself attended all the Area Standing Committee meetings around the country. The running of the RCCC is handled by sub committees made up of members from ASC for Member Development, Coaching, Competitions, Umpires and Performance and all meet regularly throughout the year. Minutes are published on the RCCC website, eventually.
I just want to draw your attention to a couple of matters:
Scottish Curling now the operational name for RCCC. and
General Data Protection Regulation, known as GDPR, from 25 May 2018. Clubs will need to publish Privacy Notices will be required by clubs and need to be supplied to all club members. Data collected and maintained will need to be relevant to the running of the club. Scottish Curling has sent out guidance, templates and examples for clubs to follow. They need to be added to websites, forms etc.
The Five Stone Free Guard Zone Rule is coming – will apply to all major competitions from next season. A decision to be made by Clubs, Provinces and Areas as to whether to adopt next season in their own competitions.

25th – 27th May 2018 SCOTTISH CURLING MIXED CHAMPIONSHIP
3rd – 10th March 2019 World Wheelchair Curling Championship.
Joe Barry retires as representative after 7 years. Joe Kincaid extends a grateful thanks for his support and advice during his introductory year as rep.
The Major Event of the season, Canadian Tour at the Peak on 29th January, two sessions with dinner at Stirling Court Hotel at night. Stirling games were well contested with a win overall in terms of shots. The evening dinner was highly entertaining as a sing along with both the visitors and the hosts joining in . An amazing amount of effort put in by everyone.
Thanks to the players from all four Provinces, volunteers and Peak staff who made it a very successful event.
Area 6 Competitions 17/18
The Bonspiel was won by West Lothian. The trophy was presented on the night to Ian Keron, the President of West Lothian Province. The Knockout was won by Bathgate and was presented to Duncan Wallace, Secretary of Bathgate CC and the Area Champions Trophy was won by Kilsyth and the trophy was presented to Derek Young of Kilsyth.
Area 6 Council and Representatives – Joe Kincaid of Stirlingshire Province is now the Senior representative for the Area. Joe Barry has retired as Senior Representative and Harry Brodie of Buchlyvie and Abercorn was proposed by Ritchie Stewart, and seconded by Duncan Wallace.
Financial Statement –The Treasurer Ritchie Stewart of West Lothian Province presented the accounts. The account closure date was to be extended next year to 30 April but the accounts were closed in time for the AGM on 26th.The Canadian tour accounts showed a minor deficit of £15.61 on an overall expenditure of £4310.41, but taking that into account in the Area Accounts there was a small increase of £83.35 however the trophy engraving was not completed in time for the accounts, and will be included in next year’s accounts. The accounts were audited by Jim Marven and are available as a separate attachment.
The accounts were proposed by Margo Bain of Dollar Ladies and seconded by Jim Glassey of Laurieston and Zetland.
Area 6 Subscription – no change recommended and agreed.
Election of Secretary and Treasurer– Alan Wilson has completed his term as Secretary and has resigned. Ritchie Stewart remains as Treasurer for a further year. No one volunteered to take over as Secretary, and there was no majority agreement for the introduction of a rota amongst Provinces to fill the Area roles in future.
Election of Auditor – The appointment of Jim Marven, auditor of Stirlingshire Province accounts to audit the Area 6 accounts was confirmed, proposed by Ritchie Stewart, and seconded by Bill Strang.
RCCC Ladies Branch AGM –Newton Hotel & Highland Conference Centre, Inverness Road, Nairn IV12 4RX on Tuesday, 8th May 2018 at 2pm.

A.O.C.B. – The increase in RCCC Subscription to £20 was noted.
– Due to changes in Ice Availability next season the ice request for the Area Bonspiel has changed for Thursday to Wednesday.
