The above competition , formerly Area 6 now Forth Valley, Bonspiel was played last night in the usual friendly spirit.
The first session was marred by the none appearance of Campsie Glen, and shortage of 2 players for Livingston and 1 player for Doune leaving Stirlingshire and West Lothian at a disadvantage in points, although Doune overcame their 6 shot deficit to record a peel against Uphall.
As a consequence Forth and Endrick galloped into a lead at the end of the first session with 6 points, with Scottish Central on 3, Stirlingshire on 2 and West Lothian on 1.
However Stirlingshire came though on the rails in the second session with 3 wins to Scottish Central with 2, Forth and Endrick with 1 and West Lothian (the winners last season, how the mighty have fallen) pulled up several furlongs back on 0 wins.
The final results, see attached, showed Stirlingshire winning with 8 points and 25 ends, pipping Forth and Endrick with 8 points and 23 ends, followed by Scottish Central on 7 points and 24 ends. West Lothian finished with 1 point and 11 ends.
Congratulations to Stirlingshire and in particular to Kilsyth, the late replacement for Kilsyth Ladies, who win a bottle of wine for each team member as the highest up club in the winning Province.
The trophy and wine will be presented at the Area AGM in due course.
