Area 10

Representing curling clubs in the Fife & Kinross Area

About Us

Area 10 of Scottish Curling covers the old counties of Fife and Kinross.  It is made up of 4 Provinces – Cupar, East of Fife, Loch Leven and West of Fife.  There are 2 ice rinks in the Area – Kirkcaldy and Kinross.

The role of the Area is to:

To provide a two-way communication channel between Scottish Curling and grassroot curlers who play at Kirkcaldy and Kinross. The President and Vice President of the Area sit on Scottish Curling’s Areas Standing Committee (ASC) whose remit includes offering advice to the Board, communicating the views of Provinces and Clubs and, reporting the views and policies of Scottish Curling to local curlers. The Areas Standing Committee works closely with the Ladies Standing Committee, including regular joint meetings.

To liaise with the ice rinks at Kinross and Kirkcaldy to help improve the level of membership and involvement of curlers at the two ice facilities and, where necessary, lobby for the improvement of curling facilities (on and off ice).

To run competitions between clubs within the 4 Provinces covered by the Area – Cupar, East of Fife, Loch Leven and West of Fife – and against other Areas.

To organise the itinerary (matches, accommodation, meals and entertainment) for incoming men’s tours during their time in Fife and Kinross. This includes collection of an annual levy / entertainment fee to cover the costs.  Arrangements for incoming ladies tours are organised by Ladies Branch.

In addition to the 3 office bearers – President, Vice President and Secretary – the other members of the Area Committee are the Presidents and Secretaries of the 4 Provinces.

The current office bearers are:   President (John Taylor, Fossoway) and Vice President & Secretary (Iain Rennick, Glenrothes)
