Indoor Grand Match 2025

Posted on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 5:08pm

The 5th of the recent Indoor Grand Matches took place on Saturday 15th November 2025 and brought together the curling community across twelve Scottish ice rinks.

The recent Indoor Grand Match is a spin off event inspired by the traditional Grand Match played on a frozen lake or loch and was re-introduced in 2000 to celebrate the millennium.

The event has been held every 5 years except for 2020 when it was not played due the pandemic.

The competition is a challenge between the curlers of the North and South of Scotland which is decided by an imaginary line drawn between the River Clyde and River Forth to divide the country. Matches are played simultaneously over three sessions across twelve ice rinks with scores tallied at the conclusion of all games. The side with the highest total points is declared the winner.

Past results have been:-

Year 2000 North 2,524 points South 2,575 points Winner – South

Year 2005 North 2,476 points South 2,639 points Winner – South

Year 2010 North 1,773 points South 2,152 points Winner – South

Year 2015 North 1,928 points South 2,154 points Winner – South

Year 2020 – No competition due to pandemic

Year 2025 North 1,287 points South 1,356 points Winner – South
