{"id":1587,"date":"2025-11-16T17:08:44","date_gmt":"2025-11-16T17:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/network.royalcaledoniancurlingclub.org\/eastlinton\/?p=1587"},"modified":"2025-11-16T17:08:44","modified_gmt":"2025-11-16T17:08:44","slug":"indoor-grand-match-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/network.royalcaledoniancurlingclub.org\/eastlinton\/2025\/11\/16\/indoor-grand-match-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Indoor Grand Match 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 5th of the recent Indoor Grand Matches took place on Saturday 15th November 2025 and brought together the curling community across twelve Scottish ice rinks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recent Indoor Grand Match is a spin off event inspired by the traditional Grand Match played on a frozen lake or loch and was re-introduced in 2000 to celebrate the millennium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event has been held every 5 years except for 2020 when it was not played due the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition is a challenge between the curlers of the North and South of Scotland which is decided by an imaginary line drawn between the River Clyde and River Forth to divide the country. Matches are played simultaneously over three sessions across twelve ice rinks with scores tallied at the conclusion of all games. The side with the highest total points is declared the winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Past results have been:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Year 2000  North 2,524 points  South 2,575 points <strong>Winner &#8211; South <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Year 2005 North 2,476  points  South 2,639 points <strong>Winner &#8211; South <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Year 2010 North 1,773 points   South 2,152 points <strong>Winner &#8211; South<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Year 2015 North 1,928 points   South 2,154 points <strong>Winner &#8211; South<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Year 2020 &#8211; No competition due to pandemic<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Year 2025 North 1,287 points   South 1,356 points <strong>Winner &#8211; South<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>East Linton Curling Club were delighted to be represented in the event with two teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Team 1 played at Murrayfield against a team from Kippen Curling Club and won their match 11-3. The team was skipped by Bob McGee with Sandy Ross, Jules Turnbull and Ewan Millar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Team 2 played at Kinross against a team from Broomhall Curling Club and lost their match 5-7. The team was skipped by Drew McCrone  with Ian Donald, Gael Pollitt and Frances Donald.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of East Linton CC were also representing Markle Outdoor Curling Society in Forfar for the event. They played Forfar Young Curlers and won 9-5.
