1.<\/strong> Be on time.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Wear appropriate footwear and ensure the soles are clean to avoid dirt being carried on to the ice<\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> Check your slippy sole and kipper from time to time before curling and clean out any fluff or bits of rubber which has gathered there.<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> Don\u2019t take food and drink onto the ice.<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> Shake hands (or whatever) with the opposing team members at the start of the game.<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> Be aware of time – the countdown clock is always ticking away.\u00a0 So:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

*<\/strong><\/span>Arrange to toss a coin with the opposing team for the hammer prior to going on the ice.<\/p>\n

*<\/strong><\/span>For Ice Rink competitions, be prepared to lay down your ice money or card to avoid wasting too much time at the start of the game.\u00a0 If it\u2019s a club match, there’s no need to worry, be assured the treasurer will catch up with you in due course.<\/p>\n

*<\/strong><\/span>Don\u2019t faff around too much sorting stones into order between ends, it wastes valuable time.\u00a0 You can easily pick out your stones by their numbers.<\/p>\n

*<\/span>Be ready to take your turn<\/strong> \u2013 as soon as the opposite team has delivered their stone, you can be getting your own stone prepared and sorting yourself out on the hack.<\/p>\n

7.<\/strong> Avoid prolonged hand contact with the ice<\/strong> (also applies to other body bits) after delivering your stone, to prevent heat affecting the ice surface.<\/p>\n

8.<\/strong> Stand between the hog-lines when not playing – The skip and third should be the only team members observing opposition play from behind the house.<\/strong><\/p>\n

9.<\/strong> Don\u2019t cross in front of anyone when they are playing their shot.<\/p>\n

10.<\/strong> Shake hands (or whatever) with the opposing team members at the end of the game and do likewise with your own team members to quietly celebrate or commiserate.<\/p>\n

11.<\/strong> Sort out the stones in order for the next session and exit the ice pad promptly.<\/p>\n
